About Us
Nestled in Edmonton's Crestwood neighbourhood, Candy Cane Lane has been enchanting visitors and residents since its founding in 1968. What began as a spirited initiative by the community has blossomed into a cherished holiday tradition, marking over five decades of festive celebrations that bring the magic of Christmas to life.
As you stroll through the streets of Crestwood during the holiday season, you'll find homes adorned with twinkling lights, colourful decorations, and the unmistakable scent of holiday joy lingering in the air. Candy Cane Lane has become a testament to the enduring commitment and creativity of its founding residents, who, more than 50 years ago, embarked on a mission to turn their neighborhood into a winter wonderland.
Adding an extra layer of delight to the Candy Cane Lane experience today are enchanting sleigh rides. The gentle clip-clop of hooves, the jingle of sleigh bells, and the warmth of cozy blankets create a nostalgic and magical atmosphere as visitors embark on a journey through the illuminated streets. For those seeking a reprieve from the winter chill, public fire pits provide a cozy gathering spot where families and friends can warm up, share stories, and bask in the glow of the season.
Candy Cane Lane remains a beacon of community spirit, a testament to the enduring magic of Christmas, and an invitation for all to join in the festive celebrations. For those seeking an immersive and heartwarming holiday experience, a visit to Candy Cane Lane in Edmonton promises a journey through time, where the spirit of 1968 continues to shine brightly each winter season.
Everyone is welcome. You are encouraged to respectfully enjoy the lights and decorations as residents set up, make and buy all of their own displays. Please be aware that weather conditions may leave many sidewalks and streets slippery. Residents do their best to keep sidewalks clear but it is not always possible to be as magical as Santa. Candy Cane Lane is a two way street. Cars, buses and other large vehicles are permitted to drive the lane for those who are unable to walk.
Volunteers
Candy Cane Lane has always been an event run by volunteers and residents. If you would like to volunteer please register here.
Edmonton Food Bank
Please be sure to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Edmonton Food Bank and place them in the green bins located along Candy Cane Lane.
Since 1993, more than 618,000 kilograms of food have been donated along the lane in support of Edmonton's Food Bank.
With an average of 20,000 kilograms of food being donated per year from those admiring the beautiful residential displays, it was a critical event for Edmonton's Food Bank and a holiday tradition for many in Edmonton.
Please bring a donation for the Edmonton Food Bank. There are donation bins located all along the route for your convenience.
